It’s been three months since Emily Warren unveiled her latest track ‘Poking Holes’ to the world. After waiting patiently for a music video, the songstress is kicking off 2018 in the best way possibly with the release of the visual.
The video sees Emily dressed in an eye-catching outfit, dancing and moving around a room, whilst her accompanying dancers make small changes to the layout in each scene. Premiered on PAPER, Emily explained that: “The intention with this video was to match the metaphor in the song; small, probing issues, which might not seem like much when they’re singled out, add up over time.”
Whilst the visual is fairly simple, it turns out that it’s a real personal affair. Through teasing the video on social media earlier in the week, Emily revealed that the dancers are in fact her best friends Rachel, Halley, Joanna, Tara, Juliet and Ali. In a post on Instagram, she shared a screen cap from the video and a throwback pic, captioned: “we’ve been best friends since we were 5 years old. over the course of the last 20 years, there’s been lots of talk of us all dancing in a music video together. i am so happy to say… the day has finally come.”

Emily also shared that the video was directed by Matt Porter, a friend she played with in a band during high school. Once again, she shared a throwback pic and as Matt now works in film, he was rightly the “genius that created and directed the video for ‘Poking Holes’.

2017 was such a mammoth year for Emily Warren, it’s impossible to know where to begin (although we did our very best to sum it up for a year in review article). From winning a GRAMMY and being named one of Forbes’ 30 under 30, to penning iconic songs such as Dua Lipa’s ‘New Rules’ and breaking through as a soloist in her own right, Emily definitely made her mark in 2017.
However, 2018 looks set to be even bigger for Emily and deservedly so. In addition to continuing her work with a host of our favourite artists, Emily’s debut album will be released this year. Having had a taste of what’s to come through three solo singles, we cannot wait to delve even deeper into her creative mind.
